Maple Valley, WA is close to many phenomenal outdoor activities, including tons of great Washington ski and snowboarding resorts. There are parks and natural areas, and you are so close to glorious wilderness areas you don’t need a park designation.

Parks and Trails

Lake Wilderness ParkLake Wilderness Park 22500 SE 248th Street 

Amenities: Children's play area with play structures, walking paths, 2 tennis courts, baseball field, boat launch (combustible engines prohibited), fishing, picnic tables and barbecues, and restrooms.

Fishing at Lake Wilderness Park is permitted from dawn to dusk and the boat launch will be made available for use by 6:00 a.m. each morning. Please refer to the Washington State Fish & Wildlife website for information about permits required for fishing in Lake Wilderness.

NEW 2014! Boat Rentals & Concessions: The City of Maple Valley will offer boat rentals during the summer months.

Families and children are the focus of many amenities at Lake Wilderness Park. Amenities include:
  • Lake Wilderness Park 3A children's play area with swings and play structures
  • Picnic tables and barbecues
  • Three picnic shelters (available for rental)
  • Five picnic sites (available for rental)
  • Two outdoor tennis courts
  • A softball field (available for rental)
  • Walking paths and large grassy areas that can be used for a variety of activities, such as Frisbee or a game of catch
  • Swim beach with seasonal lifeguards, boat rentals and a concession stand. For more information about these summer programs please click here.

  • Fishing (licensing information is available at the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife site).

Green to Cedar Rivers Trail/Cedar River TrailCedar River Trail 

The Cedar River Trail, owned and maintained King County, follows an old railroad right-of-way from downtown Renton to King County's Landsburg Park, alongside the scenic Cedar River. A branch of the trail, Green to Cedar Rivers Trail, connects with the City's Lake Wilderness Park and continues to Four Corners. Please visit King County's website for further information.
